Introduction

Intercalation. Fancy sounding word, huh. But what actually is it? Well, as part of your medical course, in-between preclinical years and clinical years, many universities offer an opportunity to study a subject of your choosing in detail for a year. And at the end of that year, you get a degree in it! So basically at the end of your university studies, you’ll walk away with an additional degree to your medical one, which can give you points for so many applications down the line. It’s also a great opportunity to explore your own interests. Lit right? Well, in theory it sounds great and straightforward. But in reality, it’s probably the most unstructured and confusing year you’re likely to have. In this series, we’re going to be sharing some major keys to help make the transition to intercalation as easy as possible. This series will also apply to anyone doing a scientific degree at uni.
